About.

James D. Doster Inc, is a local family owned outdoor commercial construction company that has been in business for over 24 years in the Gaston County area of North Carolina. Doster Inc. spent their first 22 years residing in Mount Holly, NC and moved their office to Lowell in 2018 where they are now. We installer sewer, drain, and water pipes for new sub divisions in the area so homes and businesses can get city sewage and water. These are the big concrete pipes, man holes in the middle of road ways, fire hydrants, and storm drains near curbs that are installed before anything else can be build. Doster Inc. also does emergency jobs for several cities in the area. To install these materials, we dig large trenches, install pipe, and cover it up with dirt. When we are done the paving and house building companies will come to start building the homes or businesses.

Sanitary

Sanitary is a term used in the wet utility field that pertains to the install of water and sewer pipe. Water install is when water pipe is installed in the ground normally not too deep with a smaller pipe size to give higher pressure. Water pipe is normally installed out of the road way near or past the sidewalk close to homes, to a water meter where water is turned on and off for the resident. There is a short line for the service on the same side of the road as the water pipe and then a longer service which goes to the other side of the road.

Sewer pipe is normally installed in the center of the road from manhole to manhole. A manhole is the metal circles in the center of a road way. Services or sewer lines to homes come out of the pipe in the middle of the road to the house. Sewer is connected to a houses water drains and toilets. Of course there are other forms of sewer lines like low pressure and pump station which we do but they are not as common as manholes in the street.

Storm Drain

Storm drain is the process of installing pipe and concrete boxes to control the flow of rain water in an area. Many people see storm drain grates installed in a curb. A metal grate sits on a catch basin stopping larger objects from coming into the structure and only letting water in. The pipe is under ground and leads to a place for water to accumulate like a pond, river, or an open area of land.

To install storm drains and pipe, dirt is moved to help control where water flows and the structures are used to catch large amounts of water. The pipe will carry water all underground either in between peoples yards, under road ways, and through sidewalks. The overall goal is to reduce flooding of roads and houses after a storm.
